What do I need to start?

  • Minimum age: 10
  • Be able to tread water for 10 minutes
  • Have no medical problems

What will I do?

Throughout the course, you’ll learn fundamentals of scuba diving, including dive equipment and techniques. You earn this rating by completing 3 pool dives,3 knowledge development sessions and by making two open water (ocean or lake) dives. You will also need to demonstrate confidence in the water by completing a 10 minute flotation exercise.

Prior to the course starting you will receive an Openwater crewpack with a training manual. It is important that you read the first 3 chapters of this book and complete the relevant knowledge reviews before starting the course. This gives you a stronger base for knowledge of new concepts, and more opportunity for learning for you.

How long will it take?

PADI programs are performance based. You proceed as you demonstrate mastery of the course skills. This allows you to work at a pace that is comfortable for you. However, it can be completed in approx 2-3 days intensely (weather dependent) or over a 3 week period.
